AccidentPal Privacy Policy
This policy explains what AccidentPal collects, why we collect it, who receives it, and the choices you have. It covers the AccidentPal mobile app for drivers, the web portal for law firms, and these public pages. AccidentPal is available in the United States and is intended only for people 18 and over.
Who we are
AccidentPal, Inc. ("AccidentPal," "we," "our," or "us") operates the AccidentPal mobile application and the web portal used by law firms. We provide a guided documentation and attorney-connection platform for people involved in motor vehicle accidents.
AccidentPal is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Nothing on this platform or in any communication from AccidentPal constitutes legal advice.

Information we collect
A. Information you provide directly
- Identity information: name, email address, and phone number.
- Driver profile: your driver's license number and your emergency contact's name, relationship, and phone number.
- Vehicle and insurance: vehicle type, make, model, year, color, and plate; your insurer, policy number, and agent phone.
- Accident details: the date, the location, a description of what happened, and the vehicle category involved.
- Documentation: photographs of the scene, vehicle damage, and other evidence you submit.
- Injury indicators: general descriptions of whether you feel injured. These are not used for medical diagnosis or treatment.
- Messages: what you write to the law firm handling your case, and what you ask AccidentPal AI.
B. Information collected automatically
Location data: the GPS coordinates of the accident, only with your permission, and only when you are documenting a report. You can adjust the detected location by hand before submitting.
Beyond that, we collect the timestamps attached to the records above and the server logs our infrastructure providers generate when you use the service. We do not run product analytics or advertising SDKs, and the app does not track what screens you visit or how long you spend on them.
C. Information we do not collect
- Detailed medical records or Protected Health Information under HIPAA.
- Payment card numbers. Law firm billing is processed by Stripe; drivers never pay us.
- Audio recordings, your device contacts, SMS, or call logs.
- An advertising identifier. The app contains no advertising.
We do not sell your personal information.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- guide you through documenting the accident and assemble your report;
- show you law firms whose service area covers where the accident happened;
- share your report with a firm only after you select it;
- carry messages between you and the firm handling your case;
- answer your questions through AccidentPal AI;
- review content you report and act on blocks you set;
- keep the service secure and investigate fraud or abuse;
- communicate with you about your case or your account;
- comply with applicable law.
How we share your information
With law firms (only after you choose one)
Your report — accident details, photos, and your vehicle and insurance information — is shared with a firm when you select it. You are never automatically matched or referred.
Your phone number is deliberately withheld at that point. It becomes available to the firm only after the firm formally accepts your case, and the same rule applies in reverse for the firm’s number. Selecting a firm does not create an attorney-client relationship.
With service providers
These vendors help us operate the platform and are contractually limited to that purpose:
- Supabase — authentication, database, real-time messaging, and file storage.
- Anthropic — processing of AccidentPal AI questions and responses.
- Google — Sign-In and Maps.
- Resend — transactional email such as verification messages.
- Vercel — hosting for the web portal and these public pages.
- Stripe — payment processing for law firm subscriptions and case fees.
As required by law
We may disclose information where we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, to enforce our Terms, to investigate fraud or abuse, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
Business transfers
If AccidentPal is acquired or merges with another company, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
AccidentPal AI
The app includes an assistant that answers questions about what to do after an accident. Your question, and the limited context sent with it, are processed by Anthropic to generate a response. Responses are generated automatically and can be wrong; they are general information, not legal or medical advice.
We do not keep a stored transcript of ordinary assistant conversations — they are ephemeral. The exception is when you report a response: we then retain that response, your preceding message, and technical details such as the model and prompt version, so our team can review it.
Reporting and blocking
You can report a message, a conversation, another participant, or an AccidentPal AI response. A report captures the reported content and limited surrounding context for our moderation team. Reports are visible to our moderators, not to the person you reported.
You can also block the other participant on a case. Blocking stops new messages on that case for both sides. It does not delete your report, your evidence, or the message history, because those may still matter to your claim. If blocking leaves you without representation, contact support.
Data retention
We retain your case file and personal information for 36 months from the date of your report, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. That period reflects the statute of limitations for personal injury claims in most U.S. states, plus a buffer for the typical case lifecycle. After it elapses, the data is deleted or anonymized.
You may request deletion at any time before that period ends. We honor deletion requests except where retention is required by applicable law, by a financial record-keeping obligation, or by an ongoing legal proceeding.
A law firm that received your case file may retain it under its own professional record-keeping obligations, which we do not control.
Deleting your account
You can request deletion from inside the app under Settings, or from https://app.accidentpal.ai/delete-account if you no longer have the app installed. Requests made from the web are confirmed by a one-time link sent to the account’s email address.
Deletion is processed by our support team rather than instantly from your device, because accident reports are linked to evidence, messages, and in some cases financial records we must review first. We tell you when your request is verified and when processing is complete.
Your rights and choices
All users
- Access: you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: you may ask us to correct inaccurate information, and you can edit your profile, vehicle, and insurance details in the app at any time.
- Deletion: you may request that we delete your data, subject to the retention exceptions above.
- Withdrawal of consent: you may withdraw a firm’s access to your case at any time before it accepts.
You also control whether the app may use your device location, camera, and photo library through your device settings. Turning them off limits the features that depend on them.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request its deletion, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@accidentpal.ai.
Other state residents
We honor similar rights for residents of states with applicable privacy legislation. Contact privacy@accidentpal.ai to submit a request. We will verify your request before acting on it.
Data security
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit and at rest, and access controls enforced at the database so that, as a general rule, you reach your own records and a law firm reaches only the cases assigned to it. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
For law firms
If you use AccidentPal as a subscribing law firm, we additionally collect your professional information (bar number, state, practice areas, firm name), your billing details through Stripe, and records of the cases you receive and how you respond to them.
Case files shared with you by drivers remain subject to your own professional and ethical obligations, including your state bar’s rules on confidentiality, advertising, and client data.
Age requirement
AccidentPal is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our platform, contact privacy@accidentpal.ai and we will delete it.
Third-party links
The platform may contain links to third-party websites, including law firm websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will notify you of material changes by publishing a new version with a new effective date and, where appropriate, asking you to review and accept it before you continue using features that depend on it. The version identifier at the top of this page tells you which version you are reading.
